At the recent Municipal Book Fair, held from October 1 to 4 in the city of General Roca, Río Negro, one of the fair’s tents or sections was named after Paola Kaufmann.
Some of her close friends and acquaintances attended to pay tribute to their beloved Paola, while her immediate family expressed their gratitude to the municipality for the gesture of naming the tent after her, marking the twentieth anniversary of her death. This tribute helps keep her name and work alive.
This is not the first time the city of General Roca has paid tribute to Paola. In March 2006, a few months before her death, she was awarded the distinction of Honorary Guest, which she personally attended to receive.
A few years later, in 2009, the Deliberative Council named a square in the Las Viñas neighborhood after her, in the very area where she spent part of her childhood. Unfortunately, Paola Kaufmann Square still has no plaque or sign indicating its official name.
With the tribute at the Book Fair, the Patagonian city has now honored the writer and scientist on three occasions.
Her family and friends appreciate that her literary work continues to be remembered, and they hope to promote the reissue of her books in the near future so that they can be made available to new generations.
